World Series Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate over 50 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various languages.
